Privacy Policy
AnyVoca is a translation and vocabulary learning tool. We collect only the minimum data needed to make the extension work. We do not sell your data, show you ads, or share your information with third parties.
What we collect
When you use AnyVoca, the following data is stored:
- A display nickname you choose when setting up the extension
- Words and phrases you translate, saved to build your personal vocabulary list
- Your spaced-repetition review progress (which words you've learned, review intervals, streaks)
- Extension preferences (language pair, level, AI prompt settings)
We do not collect your name, email address, location, browsing history, or any other personally identifiable information.
How we use your data
Data we collect is used exclusively to provide the service:
- Your vocabulary list and review progress are used to schedule spaced-repetition reminders
- Words you look up are sent to our translation API to generate translations and explanations
- Your settings are stored locally in your browser via
chrome.storage
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to translation and vocabulary learning.
Website content access
AnyVoca reads text from web pages only when you explicitly select a word or phrase and trigger a translation — by clicking the extension icon or using the right-click context menu. The extension never reads or records page content automatically or in the background.
Where your data is stored
Your vocabulary list and review progress are stored locally in your browser using chrome.storage. Some data (such as translation requests) is sent to our backend servers to generate responses. We do not store translation queries beyond what is needed to fulfill the request.
Third-party services
AnyVoca uses AI language model APIs to generate translations and explanations. Text you select for translation is sent to these APIs solely to produce a response. These services are governed by their own privacy policies.
Data retention
Your local data (vocabulary list, progress, settings) remains in your browser until you uninstall the extension or clear your browser storage. You can delete your vocabulary data at any time from within the extension.
Children's privacy
AnyVoca is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
